Senator Jeremy Hutchinson Indicted

State Senator Jeremy Hutchinson has been indicted on charges of wire fraud and tax fraud. In a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office they stated the following:

“Counts one through eight of the indictment charge Hutchinson with wire fraud related to falsified state campaign finance reports and soliciting campaign donors with fraudulent intent. Counts nine through 12 charge Hutchinson with tax fraud for allegedly filing false tax returns for 2011 to 2014.

With these charges Hutchinson faces up to 20 years in prison for each of the wire fraud charges, a fine of up to $250,000. For the false tax returns, he faces up to three years in prison, a fine of up to $100,000.

The release stated that “the indictment of Jeremy Hutchinson represents our commitment to vigorously investigate allegations of public corruption by elected officials.”

“Senator Hutchinson allegedly diverted contributions from his Arkansas State Senator campaigns to pay for an array of personal expenses.”

Senator Hutchinson is scheduled to appear on September 18 at 10 a.m. before U.S. Judge Patricia S. Harris.

Senator Hutchinson is the nephew of Governor Asa Hutchinson.

  1. Until we pass term limits with very short terms and prohibit the receipt of any benefit whatsoever from lobbyists, we will suffer fraud upon the voters.

    But in addition, we must have a simple and easy recall statute for every elected official and all judges.

    Finally, it should take no more than 100 signatures to start a political party in this state. Maybe if we have 4-8 of them, the competition will incentivize a lot more integrity. The Dems and Reps are loaded with crooks because they are a duopoly.
