Complaints were submitted to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission against companies approved to cultivate medical marijuana in Arkansas. 14 complaints were submitted by companies who had their applications to grow medical marijuana rejected.
The complaints cite corruption throughout the selection process and against the approved companies. The approved companies have been accused of lying about credentials, stealing information from other applicants, and having facilities in locations not allowed.
A spokesperson for the Department of Finance has announced only 8 of the 14 complaints will be investigated. Complaints against the review and scoring of medical marijuana cultivation applications will be not be reviewed.
The only claims which will be investigated will look into corruption within the approved companies.
The five companies which were approved to cultivate medical marijuana have been asked to appear before the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission at the next meeting on November 28. The companies have been asked to update the commission on their operations.
Medical marijuana was passed by Arkansan voters in November 2016, and is expected to be available in March 2019.
This sounds like another attempt to slow down or stop Arkansas from getting medical marijuana. This was voted in 2 years ago and still nothing has been done. The people voted for this, and government officials have dragged their feet and delayed this for the past 2 years. Do not delay this any farther. We the people demand it.
