Corruption at Arkansas Pregnancy Center; $53,000 in Restitution Owed

A former executive of an Arkansas pregnancy center has been order to pay $53,000 in restitution funds to the pregnancy center on charges of theft. Daphne Haas admitted to stealing the money over a 10 month period last week in court.

In addition to restitutions of $53,000, Haas received a 10 year suspended sentence.

Haas became director of the Heart to Heart Pregnancy Center in Fort Smith in 2015. As director, Haas had control over the organization’s bank account. The investigation revealed that Haas would deposit funds into the organization’s bank account, only to transfer the funds to her personal account.

Haas used the money donated for the pregnancy center’s needs like ultrasound machines to fund personal expenses like a vacation to the island of St. Thomas.
