Bill Filed to Search for Savings in State Government

A bill was filed in Arkansas to search for savings in the state government. House bill 1505 lead by State Rep. Rick Beck and co-sponsored by State Sen. Bob Ballinger.

HB 1505 would require savings to be realized from the Governor’s reorganization plan. Specifically, the bill would require new cabinet secretaries to propose a 1 percent cut to their departments. If these reports outlining cuts to the departments are not sufficiently filed with the general assembly, the new cabinet secretary’s salary would be cut by 10 percent.
