After sailing through the Arkansas Senate, a bill to reduce the amount that businesses pay into the unemployment benefits fund passed the Arkansas House this week. SB298 by Sen. Kim Hammer (R – Benton) and Rep. Robin Lundstrum (R – Elm Springs) would provide relief for Arkansas businesses. The fund for unemployment benefits has continued to balloon with less people applying for benefits under a strong President Trump economy. The fund now has over $700 million.
Lundstrum highlighted that by passing her bill legislators could go back to their districts and tell their constituents they voted to cut taxes for small business. The bill now heads to the governor for his signature.
Relief that is overdue. Much more relief is necessary.
The government in Arkansas is monolithic in size with gargantuan tax burdens everywhere we look…, especially when compared to neighboring States.
DIAGNOSIS: Too many fake Republicans.
PROGNOSIS: Slower growth than neighboring States.
REMEDY: Reduce the size and expense of the Arkansas Government by 35%.
Replace 55% of State Senators and State Representatives until parity with neighboring States is achieved.
