Arkansas Teen Shot by Classmate in Prescott

An Arkansas teen was shot by a 14 year old classmate in a premeditated attack at Prescott High School in Southwest Arkansas. The student was airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital and is in stable condition.

The shooter was in police custody soon after the call was made at 9:15 AM on Monday, April 1. Reportedly, the school immediately went into lockdown and school resource officers were on the scene in moments.

The handgun used in the crime was found in the bushes outside of the school.

No details have been released regarding the identities of the shooter or the victim, other than that both are 14 years old and in the eighth grade.

School was dismissed for the day at 10:30 AM and will resume as normal on Tuesday. Prescott School District, encompassing Prescott High School, McRae Middle School, and Prescott Elementary School, serves nearly 1,000 students with 175 faculty on staff.

The last shooting on a school campus in Arkansas was in Conway in 2008.
