Arkansas State Representative Aaron Pilkington appeared on Conduit News Radio with Paul Harrell this morning to detail his newly filed “stand your ground” legislation. The legislation would justify a persons physical force in self defense or in defense of others. Rep. Pilkington said the legislation would help strengthen a persons right to protect their life, property, and loved ones. Pilkington stated he was approached by a constituent about supporting this type of legislation.
Currently in Arkansas there is a duty to retreat requirement that undermines a persons ability to “stand their ground” and protect themselves and others. Pilkington’s legislation would remove that requirement.
