State Sen. Jeremy Hutchinson Trial Delayed

U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker postponed former State Sen. Jeremy Hutchinson’s trial until next July in order to give the defense more time to prepare. Hutchinson’s original trial date was October 22, 2018. The trial will now be held on July 8, 2019.

Hutchinson was charged with eight counts of wire fraud and four counts of filing false income tax returns. Hutchinson allegedly used campaign funds to pay for personal expenses, including school tuition for his children, vacations to the Carribean and New Orleans, Netflix, gym memberships, groceries, and jewelry.

Despite pleading not guilty, Hutchinson resigned in August. Jeremy Hutchinson is the son of former U.S. Senator Tim Hutchinson and is the nephew of Governor Asa Hutchinson.
