New Arkansas Private Jail Proposed

Two Arkansas counties are negotiating with the Department of Corrections to place prisoners at a potential, new private jail. The two counties are Bradley and Drew.

The private jail would hold nearly 450 inmates. Each county would have a reserved number of beds. The Arkansas state prison system currently has 16,000 inmates.

In July, Sharp County finalized plans for a new jail and progress is being made on the new Marion County jail.
