Stop Social Media Censorship Bill Filed in Arkansas

A bill filed in Arkansas would stop social media censorship, proposing a minimum civil damage amount of $75,000 for each post that’s removed or censored by the social media platforms.

“Stop Social Media Censorship Act” or House Bill 1028 was filed by State Rep. Johnny Rye (R). In the bill, social media platforms are identified as a public utility. With this definition, social media platforms could be subject to special government regulation.

Under this bill, Arkansas’ Attorney General could sue these social media platforms in civil court. This bill would apply to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
