An Arkansas teen’s plea to allow a service dog to accompany her in school has been denied. The 16 year old relies on a service dog to help ease debilitating panic attacks.
Federal Judge Brian Miller ruled that Conway School District is exempt from complying with the Americans Disability Act in regards to the service dog. The ruling mandates that Conway School District must make “reasonable modifications” to accommodate her disability, but this does not include her service dog.
The teen is treated for anxiety. Her service dog, a miniature Australian Shepherd, is trained to block her from crowds, among other things.
