Pediatric Nurse Joins Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission

The newest member appointed to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission is a pediatric nurse.

Justin Smith is a 38 year old nurse for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Smith stated that he has seen the effects of cannabis treatments on children with epilepsy.

Senate President Pro Tempore Jonathan Dismang (R) stated that Smith’s clinical experience was a deciding factor in the appointment. Smith’s appointment fills the vacancy left by the resignation of James Miller. In regards to the resignation, Miller cited family and business matters.

The commission is composed of five members and is scheduled to review over 200 dispensary applications on Wednesday, January 9. 32 permits are expected to be distributed.
