Arkansas Ethics Commission at “Breaking Point” Requests More Funding

The Arkansas Ethics Commission has reached a self-described “breaking point”. The Commission received 146 citizen complaints during the 2018 election cycle.

As first reported by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, the Director Graham Sloan has requested the funding for two more staff positions, $108,367 for operational funding, and $25,000 for a new website.

The Arkansas Ethics Commission is a five member team currently.

Gov. Hutchinson released a response, stating that these requests will be reviewed and considered further during the Arkansas General Assembly.

The 2019 Legislative Session is expected to place an emphasis on ethics in the wake of the ongoing corruption scandals involving Arkansas legislators.
