Walgreens Settles in Arkansas Medicaid Fraud

Walgreens, the second largest pharmacy store chain in the US, has settled to pay $1 million to Arkansas for Medicaid fraud. Walgreens improperly billed for healthcare programs.

As reported by KAIT, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge released statements regarding the settlements. A lawsuit alleged that Walgreens had shortened the number of days that a patient could use insulin pens. By shortening the term of use, the federal and state government paid substantially more for new insulin pens.

Walgreens faced another allegation of fraud for submitting overly expensive claims to the state.

On these healthcare fraud charges, Walgreens settled for $296 million.

Between these two settlements, Arkansas will receive over $1 million.
