Senate District 7 Special Election Results

The chief of staff for the city of Springdale Colby Fulfer and retired U.S. Navy Capt. Steve Unger are moving forward to the runoffs for the Republican nomination for an open Arkansas state Senate seat, while former TLC star Jim Bob Duggar failed to qualify.

According to the unofficial election results from Arkansas’s state Senate District 7, Fulfer took home 46.67 percent of the vote, while Unger took 31.66 percent. Duggar only received 15.34 percent of the vote, followed by Edge Nowlin, who only received 6.33 percent.

All four candidates were running to fill Republican Sen. Lance Eads’ vacant seat following his resignation.

The nomination vote came only days after Jim Bob Duggar’s son, Josh Duggar, was convicted on two federal counts of possessing and receiving child pornography. He is due to be sentenced in the case in early 2022 and faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of $250,000 on each count.

The winner of the Republican primary will face off against Democratic nominee Lisa Parks on Feb. 8’s special election.
