Republican Primary Candidate Matt McKee on Race for SD6

Republican Primary Candidate Matt McKee joins Conduit News for the first time to talk about why he is running for the Arkansas Senate. McKee is running for the newly-drawn Arkansas Senate District 6 in Garland and Saline County.

In this upcoming primary race, McKee is facing incumbent Senator Bill Sample. McKee contrasts the differences between him and Senator Sample, and says Sample does not have a conservative record.“There’s not a tax increase or regulatory increase that he (Sample) doesn’t like.”

McKee also talks about Sample’s voting record surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine mandates and proposed legislation that would have protected Arkansas employees. “It’s baffling that we wouldn’t give individuals the right to choose what’s best for their own health, their families, and their security. My opponent failed to do what was right. We can do so much better,” McKee says.

McKee is currently is a Justice of the Peace for Garland County and served as Chairman of the Republican Party of Garland County for a number of years.

Since Conduit focuses on conservative issues and legislators’ voting records, and the Arkansas House and Senate are over 78% Republican, our series, “Ignoring the Republican Platform,” highlights Republican incumbents who frequently vote contrary to conservative values and in many of those instances contrary to the Republican Party of Arkansas Platform.
