Dunklin: I’m Ready to Lead on Day One

The Republican Party of Arkansas’ chairperson will soon be determined this coming Saturday, Aug. 19th at the 2023 Summer State Committee Meeting.

Sarah Dunklin, who is currently Chair of the First Congressional District, is running against former Washington County Judge and current Department of Transportation and Shared Services Secretary Joseph Wood.

Dunklin joins Conduit News to talk about her race for state chair and why she believes she is the most qualified candidate for this position. Dunklin talks about her time as First Congressional District Chair and what her experience has been like overseeing 30 counties in that district. She talks about why it is important to continue the progress the GOP has made over the years — and why now is the time to have someone in that leadership position who knows the rules and procedures, and is equipped to lead on day one.

Dunklin also tells us her position on several issues facing the state Republican party, such as whether or not to have closed primaries — that issue will be considered at Saturday’s state committee meeting.

The party’s former chair, Cody Hiland, was appointed to the Arkansas Supreme Court by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Conduit News reached out to Secretary Wood for an interview, but he declined.
