Today, Brad Simon, a candidate in the Republican Primary run-off for SD26, made it clear that he will use a worn-out tactic to attempt his win against Wade Dunn–attack Conduit!
Who knows, it may work. As sad as it is, we know that approach will make certain folks at the state Capitol happy. That has been a safe rule among the establishment back to the days of Asa. Not so sure it will work with SD26 conservative voters today, however, since they may prefer one’s positions (usually reflected by the candidate’s supporters) rather than positioning.
Also, Conduit rarely finds it necessary to clarify its statements. But, if it will accommodate Mr. Simon, we will repeat what Conduit News specifically stated in the referenced Conduit clip– which you may find around the 38-second mark:
“…Dunn had loaned his campaign $47,500.”….. “…he [clearly referencing Simon campaign] took out a personal loan of $150,000.”
The personal loan “from” Simon is reflected in Simon’s campaign filings, certified as correct by Brad Simon, found on the SOS site here:

It makes no difference to Conduit whether Mr. Simon or Mr. Dunn personally borrowed the funds they in turn loaned to their campaigns (as long as these funds are legal). And assuming these loaned funds are legal funds, we are not clear why Mr. Simon wishes to make this an issue–other than to start exercising my initial comment (worn-out tactic).
But since he brought it up, earlier in the week we invited Mr. Simon to be interviewed on Conduit News, to which he politely refused because the invite was not made before he won a position in the SD26 run-off. We regret his decision since over the years the late Senator Gary Stubblefield (R-SD26) was a Conduit winner and hero. We also failed to tell Mr. Simon that more often than not, candidates (especially the likeminded) make the initial requests from Conduit for such interviews, which he did not bother doing prior to or after his win which placed him in the run-off.
With all that said, we are happy to now garner the attention of Mr. Simon should that be how he chooses to run his campaign. And should he go on to become the next state senator for SD26, we look forward to working with him.
