DeLay: Experience, Constitutional Approach Key to Circuit Court Role

Incumbent Sebastian County Circuit Judge Gunner DeLay is seeking re-election on the March 3 ballot, citing 37 years of legal experience and endorsements from law enforcement, members of the local bar, and a retired circuit judge.

In an interview with Conduit News, DeLay said he currently handles one-half of the county’s criminal docket and a portion of its civil docket, including cases ranging from serious felonies to medical malpractice and property disputes. DeLay, a former state legislator, prosecuting attorney, public defender, and private practitioner, said his campaign focuses on experience, public trust, and a constitutional, text-focused approach to interpreting the law. He also pointed to a recent murder case that resulted in a 200-year sentence as one of the most significant matters during his tenure.

Early voting began February 17, and election day is March 3.
