Early voting is underway, and Lonoke County Judge candidate Stubby Stumbaugh says his campaign is centered on fixing deteriorating county roads and improving transparency in local government.
In an interview with Conduit News, the Cabot native and current Justice of the Peace highlighted his background in public service, including time with the Little Rock Police Department, service as Cabot’s mayor, and decades of community involvement.
Stumbaugh pointed to what he described as neglected rural infrastructure, saying some roads are in such poor condition that school buses and emergency vehicles struggle to use them. He argued county resources should prioritize road repair over what he characterized as costly projects that do not address core needs.
On fiscal oversight, Stumbaugh called for clearer tracking of project spending and more public visibility into how tax dollars are used, stating that “transparency is a must” to maintain public trust. He also said economic development efforts should involve coordination with local mayors and avoid shifting costs onto neighboring property owners.
Early voting is now underway, and election day is March 3.
