Judge Deakins: Bullying His Way thru the Washington County Runoff Race

Part Two: Why Patrick Deakins Must Go!

For three years, Patrick Deakins has bullied his way through Washington County, imposing

  • “Out of control” spending
  • Avoidable risks
  • Consolidation of power

and worst of all … “Created Hostile/Aggressive County Leadership!”

Deakins summed up his attitude toward his job as County Judge with these words, “Technically, and legally, I own it.”*

Now he is trying to bully his way through this Runoff with a “Regime of Disrespect!”

1. Disrespect for the Voters — selling a bald-faced lie:1

The Lie: Deakins (and his deputy county attorney) continuously repeat that Deakins is being wrongly attacked by: “1) Dark money; “2) From an extreme liberal group; “3) Who is spending over $100K.”

Truth: It is no secret that “Truth in Politics 2 IEC” is the political committee effectively speaking out against Deakins.

  1. Dark money? Public filings show the committee is organized by the founders of the Conduit organizations. Nothing dark about it. (www.conduitnews.com
  1. Extreme liberals? Across the state, these individuals are well known as conservative Republicans. Deakins knows that intimately, as they personally supported his past elections to public office and more until this 2026 campaign.
  1. Spending over $100K? Public filings show a total spend of less than half of the $100K claim.

Comment: It is an insult to voters and amazing that Deakins and his political consultants think the voters are this ignorant… Just yesterday, Deakins doubled down on this LIE, spending $$ on another text blast (3/18/2026.)—Makes one wonder—is this his entire campaign? It also reinforces/proves the fact that he could never beat the Democrat in the general election.

2. Disrespect for Other County Elected Officials by overriding a 57-year precedent, blocking their access to legal advice from the AR Association of Counties, forcing them to use his hand-picked legal staff.2

3. Disrepect for Your Property Rights & the Law by pursuing passage of his own Zoning Ordinance, illegally ignoring the Planning Board.3

4. Disrespect for the Office of County Judge by ignoring his leadership position (and courthouse gossip) as “the role model” for interactions with staff—female and male — thus producing a toxic culture.4

5. Disrespect for the Quorum Court by his attitude towards them, and keeping them in the dark regarding lawsuits. For example, he does not share information about lawsuits he has filed or those filed against the county. He only tells them when he needs them to sign a settlement check.5

6. Disrespect for County Resources by paying his personal CPA licensing fees with the County Credit Card.6

7. Disrespect for Washington County by exposing it to avoidable legal claims, such as breach of contract, wrongful spending, sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful terminations, illegal exaction, and more.7

“No Mandate” Deakins won the 2022 primary by only 18 votes!

VOTE AGAINST THIS TOXIC CULTURE — EARLY VOTING IS MARCH 24 – 30 AND RUNOFF ELECTION DAY IS MARCH 31!

Why is our current Washington County leadership continuing to partner with the Northwest Arkansas Council to hand over control of the county? (SB361-ord) During last month’s IDA discussion, NWA Council economic development director Ron Maloney characterized concerns about zoning authority and local tax control as “parochial” and “myopic.” “Myopic” means lacking foresight or intellectual insight. Residents asking who governs their land and taxes isn’t a lack of foresight — it’s civic responsibility. Read the DemGaz article here: https://ow.ly/Nk4h50Yoano
