Fort Smith Attorney Joey McCutchen has resigned from the Sebastian County Republican Committee, effective immediately, telling Conduit News his decision followed a dispute over how the committee handled the removal of a fellow member.
McCutchen said the removal was the breaking point. “I cannot and will not be part of a party that will not respect my rights, your rights, county members’ rights,” he told Conduit News.
In the interview, McCutchen framed the episode as part of what he sees as a broader pattern within the Republican Party of Arkansas — one in which members who speak out are silenced and, in his account, established rules are bent or even broken to reach a predetermined outcome.
McCutchen also pointed to recent membership bans in other counties as evidence of the same trend.
Conduit News reached out to the chair of the Sebastian County Republican Committee for comment, but had not received a response as of publication.
