Funds for a Gold Star Families Memorial were raised through a telethon on Veterans Day. The monument will serve to honor families of fallen military service members.
The monument will be built at the Arkansas state capitol in Little Rock. Ground was broken on March 2, 2017 and the dedication is scheduled for June 30, 2019. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Prior to the Telethon hosted by KARK, $125,000 was still needed for the $550,000 memorial.
The memorial will be the first of its kind in the United States to be placed on the grounds of a state capitol.
