Arkansas Couple Adopts 7 Children in time for Christmas

An Arkansas couple has adopted seven siblings out of the Arkansas foster care system. The adoption was finalized by the court for the Hawthorn family just in time for Christmas.

The Hawthorns became foster parents a few years ago, and adopted two siblings in April. Now, the Hawthorns have adopted 7 more children.

According to 9news when asked if these were too many children to take on, the Hawthorns stated that:

“This is a blessing, they are a blessing. Every day these kids wake up and they are giggling and they are happy, and you see the smiles on their faces, that’s what makes this worth it. We hope this will give other opportunities and people will consider opening their homes to foster care and adoption. There is such a big need for families in Arkansas, and we will be the first to tell you, it’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. Lots of prayer and love is what made this possible.

The Arkansas Department of Human Services list over 5,000 children and youth in foster care in Arkansas. Only 1,600 are in foster family homes.
