The Battle Over Ivermectin

"Do you want me to fight for you like we're on the beaches of Normandy or do you want me to tell you to go home and ride it out?"

A Fayetteville frontline doctor and Washington County jail officials find themselves in the middle of a media feeding frenzy regarding Dr. Rob Karas treating COVID positive inmates with Ivermectin.

Ivermectin is on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medications. The developer of the drug, Merck, has donated four billion doses to prevent river blindness and other diseases in Africa and other places where parasites are common. In a recent Wall Street Journal Article, it states that “a group of 10 doctors who call themselves the Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance have said ivermectin is ‘one of the safest, low-cost, and widely available drugs in the history of medicine.’”

Dr. Karas’ clinic, Karas Health Clinic, with locations in Fayetteville and Lowell, has seen successful numbers in treating COVID patients at the early onset of the virus. Dr. Karas posted these stats on the clinic’s Facebook page yesterday:

Numbers of Covid cases at Washington County Detention Center, the states second largest jail, since Covid started: 531
Number of Covid Deaths at WCDC: 0
According to the Marshall Project during the first wave of Covid, Arkansas had the 5th highest number of deaths among prison systems in the United States.
Mortality Rate of Covid at WCDC: 0
Number of Karas Health Care Covid Cases Treated: >4,000
Number of Covid Deaths of Karas Health Care Patients: 8
Mortality Rate of Covid in Arkansas: 1.54%
Mortality Rate of Covid in the United States: 1.66%
Number of patients hospitalized from Covid at WCDC: 1/531
(Only a two day admission and patient did not take medications)
Percentage of Vaccinated inmates at WCDC: 67%
Total number of vaccines given at WCDC since April: 1,260

Lastly, patients at Washington County Detention Center are never forced to take medicines and routinely refuse medications which is their right.

Ivermectin fights 21 viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, the cause of Covid-19. A single dose of Ivermectin reduced the viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in cells by 99.8% in 24 hours and 99.98% in 48 hours, according to a June 2020 study published in the journal Antiviral Research. Some 70 clinical trials are evaluating the use of ivermectin for treating Covid-19. The statistically significant evidence suggests that it is safe and works for both treating and preventing the disease. We are hearing from numerous doctors around the state that are seeing similar results. So, this begs the question — why is there a medical witch-hunt against doctors who use Ivermectin as part of their overall protocol in treating COVID? Is it because it goes against the narrative of mandatory masks and vaccines?

Think of all the deaths that could have been prevented.

Think of all the healthcare resources that were wasted because Ivermectin was not prescribed.

Now is the time to stand up for doctors and medical professionals who are doing everything they can to provide early intervention care for their patients… all at the expense of their career and livelihood.
