Arkansas National Guard to Help After Hurricane Ida

Arkansas National Guard Members will go to Louisiana Tuesday and Wednesday to help those affected by Hurricane Ida

Arkansas National Guard Members will go to Louisiana Tuesday and Wednesday to help those affected by Hurricane Ida. According to Governor Asa Hutchinson’s office, 575 members of the state’s National Guard will travel down south to help with clean up after the storm. The troops will work with search and rescue efforts, provide security, help clear roads from debris as well as assist with distributing food and supplies.

A spokesperson with the governor’s office said these efforts are made possible by the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, a program that facilitates aid between states in times of emergency.

The Governor first announced that Arkansas would send support to help with hurricane relief on Sunday.
