Local Mother Fights Back Against Inappropriate Books in School

One Arkansas mother is pushing back after her 6-year-old daughter brought home a sexually-inappropriate book from her local elementary school.

After contacting the building administrators, following through with the recommended book challenge, and subsequently appealing that decision by The Fayetteville School Board to keep the book in the school library — she is not giving up.

“We have to advocate for our children. And I wholeheartedly support the school, but I will always advocate for my child and for what’s right.

This book that was chosen is one of the most controversial and banned books between 2010 and 2019. But it sits on the shelf in my child’s elementary school library. So, I feel encouraged by what’s happening with Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her education plan, and I’m confident that we’re going to do better.” — Meredith Efurd, Fayetteville Public Schools Parent
