Arkansas legislators are at it again, now pushing HR1114 behind closed doors to sneak through a massive corporate welfare scheme at YOUR expense. Filed on April 9, 2025, by Rep. Beaty Jr (R – Crossett), HR1114 would pave the way for SJR15 , a so-called “economic development” amendment from Sen. Dismang (R – Little Rock). Don’t fall for the spin—when you hear “economic development,” brace for tax hikes and cronyism.
SJR15 would expand Arkansas’s welfare state by creating “corporate welfare districts,” funneling your hard-earned money to government-favored corporations through subsidies, tax breaks, and permanent tax-exempt status for handpicked insiders. While small businesses and working families struggle, this amendment acts like a friendly bank for political elites, redistributing taxpayer dollars with little to no oversight. Sound familiar? It should. Arkansas tried this before with “general improvement districts,” where legislators doled out public funds to pet projects—landing some of them in prison for corruption.
At a time when America is rejecting socialist policies, SJR15 doubles down on failed big-government schemes. It’s not just crony capitalism—it’s a recipe for higher taxes, more corruption, and a bloated bureaucracy with no guardrails. Even DOGE can’t save us from this mess!
The same legislators preaching fiscal conservatism are betraying us by pushing policies that enrich a few at the top while leaving Arkansans to foot the bill.
HR1114 hits the House floor THIS Monday, April 14, 2025. We must act NOW to keep this off the ballot.
