These awards are presented to Arkansas legislators who fought for liberty in the recent legislative session and are based solely on their voting records. Broken campaign promises and bloviating tweets net you zero Coolidge Awards. The winners represent the very best of Conservative, limited-government leadership in the Arkansas legislature.
CFC uses the Economic Freedom Filter to determine whether legislation protects or harms economic freedom in Arkansas. The Economic Freedom Filter analyzes bills that do the following:
- Does it grow government?
- Increase dependency?
- Spend money we don’t have?
- Reduce transparency?
If legislation falls into those categories, it is considered for scoring. Legislators are scored strictly on how they vote. Bigger-impact bills carry more weight, and missed votes count against unless properly paired
