Faulkner County Deputy Keenan Wallace was fired after shooting a Chihuahua during a service call. The incident was captured on video. Deputy Wallace was also a K9 Handler with the Department.
The dog was injured by the shooting but is expected to make a recovery. The chihuahua underwent surgery for a shattered jaw. The dog had been rescued three years prior.
The county sheriff stated that Wallace’s actions fell short of the department’s standards. While the sheriff stated that no state law or agency policy had been broken, Wallace will be referred to the prosecuting attorney’s office.
