February 19 to Become Rotary Day in Arkansas

House Bill 1025 by Rep. Lowery would designate February 19 as Rotary Day. There are over 100 Rotary Clubs in Arkansas with over 5,000 members who work to serve Arkansans through service projects.

The motto of Rotary is “Service Above Self”.

Rotary first entered Arkansas in 1913 when the Rotary Club of Little Rock was organized.

Rotary Youth is a division of Rotary which works to develop young leaders in education and services. This division includes Rotaract club, Interact clubs, Rotary Youth Exchange, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Foundation Global Grant Scholars at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.

Rotary has a global membership of 1.2 million people.

The Arkansas House of Representatives proclaimed Rotary Day as February 19 at the State Capitol and support the ongoing work of Rotary International.
