Trail of Tears Rifle Causes Outrage in Arkansas Bass Pro

1978 Winchester rifle commemorating the Trail of Tears in an Arkansas Bass Pro caused outrage across social media. The rifle has now been removed from shelves. The Cherokee Nation has applauded the quick removal.

The rifle was a one-of-a-kind product, stated Bass Pro, obtained on a trade-in for a new weapon purchase. A customer in Rogers, Arkansas posted the rifle on social media expressing disdain for profits to be made off of a painful, historic event and called for a store boycott.

The Trail of Tears was a forced relocation of the Cherokee Nation in 1838. Walking more than 1,000 miles to Oklahoma, more than 4,000 died.
