If you like China, you’re going to love Asa!

Asa Hutchinson has qualified for Wednesday’s first Republican presidential primary debate, the former Arkansas governor said in a tweet on Sunday.

Hutchinson appeared on Fox News Tuesday morning to make his case on why he is the right candidate to lead our nation. “I created 100,000 jobs through the private sector while I was governor and we balanced the budget for 8 years, and we reduced the growth of state government. And that’s what we need in DC… somebody who knows how to tighten the belt. Governors know how to do that. I’ve done that,” said Hutchinson. Watch that interview here.

A few thoughts:

  • The private sector job growth Hutchinson refers to is favored corporations that receive government handouts including Chinese companies.
  • When Hutchinson says he reduced growth in government, he means under him — government grew to a record high, but he didn’t grow it at as high a rate as some wanted.
  • The budget is always balanced no matter how bad the governor.

We thought it would be a good time to revisit past coverage of Hutchinson’s time as Arkansas governor.

First up: one of our all-time favorites is this video — a comparison of President Donald Trump/Vice President Mike Pence’s stance on communist China versus the position of Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson. Trump/Pence were fighting against China’s theft of intellectual property, persecution of Christians, currency manipulation, and economic policies that undermine the United States. Meanwhile, Hutchinson and his Department of Economic Development (Mike Preston – head) were working “daily” to give taxpayer money to entice Chinese corporations to come to Arkansas. Sound familiar?
